Ash Wednesday Service

Campus: Bayview Chapel

Ash Wednesday is the start of Lent, a 40-day period of repentance, moderation, and fasting. During Lent, we seek to turn from our sin, humble ourselves, and draw closer to God as a preparation for the glory of Easter. It all begins on Ash Wednesday, during which we are reminded that we have come from dust and will return to dust.

During this year's service, we will look at two short parables that Jesus shares: The Parable of the Hidden Treasure and the Parable of the Pearl of Great Value. In these parables, Jesus tells us that the Kingdom of Heaven is a treasure. The service begins with a time of confession, acknowledging our need for Christ. Then participants can receive ashes and we will celebrate the Lord's Supper.
