716 Ministries is a nonprofit organization that works to see neighborhoods transformed. Our TRAIN division offers work readiness programs in soft skills, construction, and customer service, equipping participants with the skills they need to pursue meaningful careers. Participants are given opportunities to learn about Christ through mentorship and our Christian curriculum. Our BUILD and SERVE divisions are social enterprise businesses that serve community organizations and offer employment opportunities to community members.
Our Heart Check funding will support:
- TRAIN 716 Work Readiness soft skills workshops for vulnerable and underserved individuals, including refugees, people in recovery, ex-prisoners reentering daily life, the homeless, at-risk youth, and the underemployed or unemployed. Students in the workshops learn workplace protocols, interview skills, conflict resolution, and more so they can succeed.
Abu's Story:
Forced to flee his home country, Abu and his family survived a treacherous journey that landed them at Vive Shelter in Buffalo. Abu joined our construction and soft skills certification program where he shared his dream of starting his own construction company to support his family. Upon completion of the program, our construction team hired him and supported him in the pursuit of this dream through mentorship, discipleship, and hands-on training. Less than two years later, he is the proud owner of his own construction company.
